About Us

Founded in 1860, Nairn Museum is one of the oldest museums in the Scottish Highlands.

We are dedicated to celebrating the rich history and vibrant culture of Nairnshire and its people. Situated in the heart of the town, Nairn Museum offers a glimpse into the unique heritage that has shaped this coastal community for centuries.

The museum is run by a single Curator-Manager and a dedicated team of volunteers who share a passion for preserving the town and shire’s stories. Together, they keep Nairn’s history alive, showcasing a diverse collection that ranges from archives to artefacts, reflecting local industries, maritime traditions, and everyday life.

Nairn Museum is a community-driven space that invites everyone to discover, explore, and connect with the stories that make Nairn and Nairnshire.

All are warmly welcomed to Nairn Museum, whether to visit and explore, or to become part of our thriving community.
