Nairn Museum was founded in 1860 and is based in Viewfield House, a classic Regency-era building.
Our independent museum brings together the many sides of Nairn, sharing stories that connect our community across generations.
In our exhibits, you’ll discover Nairn’s rich maritime history through the unique culture of Fishertown. We also celebrate the area’s farming roots and the natural beauty of Nairnshire. Our military room tells powerful stories of the battles that shaped Nairn—from Auldearn and Culloden to the World Wars—and how these events left their mark.
Throughout the year, we host a range of events and exhibitions for all ages.
Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, making it possible to keep these stories alive. Their dedication keeps our doors open and allows us to welcome visitors from near and far to explore the many stories of Nairn.
Nairn Museum preserves, explores and brings to life the vibrant heritage of Nairn and Nairnshire.
Please note: Nairn Museum is closed for the remainder of 2024 for essential building maintenance.
