Dewar Report Centenary Exhibition.

In 1912, Sir John Dewar, MP, chaired The Highlands and Islands Medical Services Committee which looked into the provision of medical services in the Highlands and Islands.

The resultant report gave a fascinating insight into the social conditions prevailing in the area at the time but also made a compelling case for health care reform.

It led to the first state provided health service in the world, the Highlands and Islands Medical Service, which is considered to be a precursor to the National Health Service.

The exhibition will run from the 3rd of September at Nairn Museum.
