Fishertown Room

This room depicts the way of life of the Fishertown area of Nairn. The collection on view was formerly housed in the Fishertown Museum until its amalgamation with the Viewfield collection in 2000.

The height of the fishing industry which supported many families for generations was in the late 19th century. This room explores the development of fishing, the fisher folks way of life, and how they spent their leisure hours.

The room has been extensively re-arranged to show both the maritime side and home life of the Fisherfolk.
